Where are you?? Identify your location using GPS coordinates

First things first. To identify our current position, wherever we are. In a crime scene in the middle of forest, road accident somewhere in the national highway stretch, or in a suspicious hut in the middle of a 1000 hut refugee camp.
Our field visits take us to many places some of which are not even marked on map. It becomes hard to share the location with other officers, seniors, enter in Case Diary. It is sometimes hard to come back and find that place. Eg: Site of murder in a dense forest. Without markings, after fifteen days it is hard to trace this location.
So, use GPS coordinates. Latitude Longitude (Lat-Long) should be recorded for each location of interest.
Best way to find this is the GPS tools like Garmin. Cost 8000.

Next best way is your smartphone. Cost Free.

I have found that "My GPS Coordinates" App which is available on Google Play Store is best for the job. It is small(<1MB), fast and no frills.

Download it and install. First time, it will ask you to enable the gps on your phone. You can click on "OK" for that.

You have to be OUTSIDE under the sky for it to work properly. So test it somewhere outside your police station, house etc. Initially you will see "Waiting for gps signal". then you should get the coordinates in 10-15 seconds. In white numbers. I am not putting up my coordinates as i don't want a stalker to deal with. You should not share your coordinates with general crazy public on the internet either. Unless you are the crazy person i am talking about.

you can click those three dots on top right hand corner and "Copy Coordinates" to whatsapp or message or email them to someone.

But wise thing to do, FIELD EXPERIENCE is to note it down in your diary/pad etc immediately, with date/time/description
Eg: 10.feb.16@ 14:00hrs, near M G Road  Morena
